Abstract

Catfish farming is one of the aquaculture activities with development potential due to the characteristics of catfish, which are relatively easy to culture, have rapid growth, and have a relatively short cultivation cycle. Lamongan Regency is one of the areas in East Java with potential for aquaculture development. This study aimed to analyze the development of catfish farming in Lamongan Regency during 2022–2024 based on cultivation area and catfish production. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with secondary data obtained from the Lamongan Regency Fisheries Service Profiles for 2022, 2023, and 2024. Data were collected through documentation and literature study. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results showed that the catfish cultivation area decreased from 52.35 ha in 2022 to 40.06 ha in 2023 and remained at 40.06 ha in 2024. Catfish production increased from 3,018.88 tons in 2022 to 3,312.29 tons in 2023, before decreasing to 46.89 tons in 2024. Overall, the development of catfish farming in Lamongan Regency during 2022–2024 showed an unstable pattern. The cultivation area showed a decreasing and then stable trend, while production increased in 2023 and declined sharply in 2024. This condition indicates the need for further evaluation and verification of production data as well as strengthening support for catfish farmers.
