Studies on online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Indonesia focus on the legal status of the partnership, while few studies assess how platforms treat their partners against human resource (HR) ethics principles. This study analyzes the application of HR ethics principles to ojol driver partners in the gig economy. It uses a qualitative descriptive literature review of scholarly publications, regulations, and news reports, and it assesses platform practices with four principles: justice, transparency, protection, and respect for dignity. The findings show that the partnership rests on unequal power, because platforms control fares, incentives, order allocation algorithms, and account status. Some practices match the principles, such as compliance with regulated fare limits, basic insurance, and flexible working time. The largest gaps lie in the clarity of incentives and sanctions, social protection, and appeal mechanisms and two-way communication. Partnership status does not remove the ethical responsibility of platforms. Platforms should explain incentives and sanctions, open fair appeal mechanisms, and facilitate social protection for partners.
