During the Abbasid Dynasty, Islamic education experienced rapid development and became one of the most important periods in the advancement of Islamic civilization. During this era, education progressed through the development of educational institutions. The Abbasid Dynasty ruled from 750 CE to 1258 CE and made Baghdad one of the world's leading centers of knowledge. Education during this period focused not only on religious sciences, such as the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), and Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir), but also developed in various fields of general knowledge, including medicine, mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, and linguistics. These developments were supported by the establishment of educational institutions, the translation of scientific works, and the caliphs’ support for scholars and scientists. This study aims to examine the development of Islamic education during the Abbasid Dynasty, including educational institutions, curricula, teaching methods, and the factors that contributed to educational progress during that period. This study employs a library research method by collecting and analyzing information from books, scholarly journal articles, and relevant historical sources. The data are analyzed descriptively by organizing information and interpreting the development of education during the Abbasid period. The findings are expected to provide an understanding of the Abbasid Dynasty’s role in developing Islamic intellectual traditions and its contribution to the advancement of knowledge. This study also highlights the relevance of the history of Abbasid education to the development of Islamic education today.
