Air pollution caused by motor vehicle emissions and human activities can increase particulate matter concentrations, particularly PM2.5 and PM10. This study aims to design and build an air pollution detection system using the HM3301 sensor and LoRa communication. The system uses an Arduino Uno R4 WiFi as the main controller, an HM3301 sensor to measure particulate matter concentrations, and a LoRa module as the communication medium between the transmitter and receiver. The research employs a quantitative approach using the Research and Development (R&D) method, which includes the stages of system design, fabrication, integration, and testing. Testing was conducted in an outdoor environment with varying communication distances to evaluate the system’s ability to measure and transmit PM2.5 and PM10 data. System performance was analyzed based on particulate matter measurement results and data transmission success rates. Test results showed that the system was capable of reading PM2.5 and PM10 levels and transmitting data at a distance of 52 meters with a success rate of 99.31%. The developed system can serve as an alternative for air quality monitoring capable of measuring PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations and transmitting data wirelessly.
