Pelabelan Nama Tanaman Sebagai Media Edukasi Lingkungan Di UPT SMP Negeri 2 Tuban

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve students’ understanding of plant names and their benefits while fostering environmental awareness through plant labeling at UPT SMP Negeri 2 Tuban. The program was initiated because many plants within the school environment had not been provided with identification labels, limiting their optimal use as environmental-based learning media. The implementation method consisted of several stages, including environmental observation, plant inventory and identification, preparation of plant name labels, installation of the labels, educational socialization on the importance of environmental conservation, and activity evaluation. The target participants included students, members of the student council (OSIS), environmental extracurricular participants, and the school community. The results showed that all stages of the program were successfully implemented with strong support from the school. Plant labeling transformed the school environment into a more informative and educational learning space, enabling students to recognize various plant species and understand their benefits while enhancing their awareness and commitment to environmental conservation. Furthermore, the activity supported the sustainable use of the school environment as a contextual learning resource in accordance with the school's vision of promoting environmental awareness.
