This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with a Design Thinking approach on creativity in building solutions to school problems among fifth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kapota Yudha Makassar. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 50 students, including 25 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality and homogeneity tests, N-Gain analysis, and the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings indicated that the implementation of the PBL model with the Design Thinking approach was categorized as very good. The mean score of the experimental class increased from 7.08 to 14.04, while the control class improved from 7.16 to 8.88. The average N-Gain score of the experimental class (6.96) was higher than that of the control class (1.72). The Mann–Whitney U test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the PBL model with the Design Thinking approach on students' creativity in building solutions to school problems. Thus, the PBL model with the Design Thinking approach can be an effective alternative learning model for enhancing elementary school students' creativity.
