Abstract

The digital transformation in education has encouraged the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a technology capable of reshaping learning paradigms in higher education. German Language Education programs, as part of foreign language education, are required to prepare students to adapt to these technological developments. This study aims to analyze the readiness of German Language Education students in facing AI-based learning transformation. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and analysis of various studies related to AI implementation in foreign language learning. The findings indicate that German Language Education students generally demonstrate adequate readiness in terms of digital literacy, technology acceptance, and learning motivation. However, several challenges remain, including limited AI competencies, insufficient ability to evaluate AI-generated information, and concerns regarding academic ethics. AI-based learning transformation offers opportunities for students to enhance German language skills through personalized learning, automated feedback, and broader access to learning resources. Therefore, strategies focusing on AI literacy enhancement, adaptive curriculum development, and strengthening digital competencies among lecturers and students are necessary to ensure effective and responsible AI integration in education.
