Pemanfaatan Podcast Berbahasa Jerman Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Hörverstehen Mahasiswa

Abstract

Listening comprehension (Hörverstehen) is one of the essential competencies in German language learning and often becomes a challenge for university students. Difficulties in understanding native speakers’ pronunciation, accent variations, speech rate, and limited vocabulary contribute to students’ low listening skills. Along with the advancement of digital technology, German-language podcasts have emerged as authentic learning media that can be utilized to improve listening comprehension skills. This study aims to analyze the use of German-language podcasts in enhancing students’ Hörverstehenability. The research employs a library research method by reviewing various scholarly works related to foreign language learning, podcast media, and listening skills. The findings indicate that the use of German-language podcasts positively contributes to improving students’ understanding of spoken information, enriching vocabulary acquisition, increasing learning motivation, and familiarizing learners with native-speaker pronunciation variations. Podcasts also offer learning flexibility, enabling students to access materials anytime and anywhere. Therefore, German-language podcasts can serve as an effective alternative learning medium for improving students’ Hörverstehen skills.
