Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Advanced Engineering and Technology Research (JODETOS)

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Advanced Engineering and Technology Research (JODETOS) will undergo a plagiarism check. Any submission found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be immediately rejected.

Before assignment to reviewers, each manuscript is screened by the editorial team using similarity-checking software. To advance to the review stage, a manuscript must meet the following requirements:

  • The overall similarity score must be below 25% (excluding references).

  • No individual source may exceed 1% similarity.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to presenting someone else’s ideas, words, findings, or expressions as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes both intentional and unintentional misuse of sources. JODETOS identifies plagiarism under the following categories:

1. Literal Copying

Direct reproduction of text from another source—whether wholly or partially—without permission, citation, or proper acknowledgment. This is commonly detected through similarity-checking tools.

2. Substantial Copying

Using a significant portion of another person’s work, either in volume or intellectual weight, without citing the original source. “Substantial” refers to the importance or distinctiveness of the copied content relative to the entire manuscript.

3. Paraphrasing

Rewriting ideas, arguments, or findings from a source into new wording without proper citation. Even when the wording is changed, failure to credit the original author constitutes plagiarism.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • Quoting phrases, sentences, data, or information from any source without proper citation.

  • Using terms, statements, statistics, or factual information without acknowledgment.

  • Presenting ideas, viewpoints, theories, or conceptual frameworks without crediting the original author.

  • Rewording or restructuring content from another source without proper citation.

  • Submitting a manuscript that is partially or fully authored by someone else and claiming it as one's own work.

Prevention Measures

JODETOS ensures that all accepted manuscripts comply with the journal’s similarity requirements. Plagiarism screening is conducted using Turnitin or other equivalent similarity-detection software.

Sanctions

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the journal may impose one or more of the following sanctions:

  • Verbal or written reprimand

  • Formal written warning to the author

  • Withdrawal or retraction of the manuscript

  • Cancellation of publication
