Plagiarism Policy – Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan Terpadu Indonesia (KESTERI)

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan Terpadu Indonesia (KESTERI) will undergo a plagiarism check. Any submission found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be immediately rejected.

Before being assigned to reviewers, each manuscript is screened by the editorial team using similarity-checking software. To proceed to the review stage, the overall similarity score must be below 25% (excluding references), and no individual source may exceed 1% similarity.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to presenting someone else’s ideas, words, findings, or expressions as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. It includes both intentional and unintentional misuse of sources and may appear in various forms.
KESTERI identifies plagiarism through the following categories:

1. Literal Copying

Directly reproducing text from another source, either wholly or partially, without permission, citation, or proper acknowledgment. This is commonly identified through cross-checking with the original material.

2. Substantial Copying

Using a significant portion of another person’s work—either in volume or intellectual weight—without citing the original source. “Substantial” may refer to the importance or distinctiveness of the copied content relative to the entire work.

3. Paraphrasing

Rewriting ideas, arguments, or findings from a source using different wording without proper citation. Although harder to detect, paraphrasing without acknowledgment is still considered plagiarism.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • Quoting phrases, sentences, data, or information from any source without proper citation.

  • Using terms, statements, statistics, or factual information from a source without acknowledgment.

  • Presenting ideas, viewpoints, theories, or conceptual frameworks without crediting the original author.

  • Rewording or restructuring content from another source without providing citation.

  • Submitting a manuscript partially or entirely written by someone else and claiming it as the author’s own work.

Prevention Measures

KESTERI ensures that all accepted manuscripts comply with similarity requirements. Plagiarism screening is conducted using Turnitin or equivalent similarity-detection software to maintain integrity and prevent unethical practices.

Sanctions

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, one or more of the following actions may be taken:

  • Verbal or written reprimand

  • Issuance of a formal warning to the author

  • Withdrawal or retraction of the manuscript

  • Cancellation of publication
