Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

The initial review of the submitted manuscript is conducted by the editors of the Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Matematika Indonesia (MATEDO). During this desk evaluation, the editors assess whether the manuscript is suitable for publication based on the journal's focus and scope, originality, similarity score using Crossref Similarity Check/iThenticate, methodological soundness, clarity and readability, quality of references, and compliance with the journal's manuscript template and author guidelines.

If the manuscript is considered suitable, it will be forwarded to at least two qualified anonymous reviewers for a Blind Peer Review process. The reviewers independently evaluate the manuscript's scientific quality, relevance, methodology, originality, presentation, and contribution to the field of mathematics education.

The anonymous reviewers' comments and recommendations are then communicated to the corresponding author, who is responsible for revising the manuscript and providing a response to each reviewer comment. The revised manuscript and authors' responses are subsequently evaluated by the editorial team. Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the revisions, the editors determine the next stage of the manuscript.

Finally, the Editor communicates the editorial decision to the corresponding author. Manuscripts that are accepted for publication proceed to the copyediting, proofreading, and layout editing stages to prepare the final version of the article before publication.

Review Outcomes

Based on the results of the peer-review process and the recommendations of the reviewers, the Editor makes the final decision regarding publication. The review process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers, the complexity of the manuscript, and the revision process. The possible editorial decisions are:

Resubmit for Review

The manuscript requires substantial revisions before it can be considered further. After the authors complete the required revisions, the manuscript may be subjected to another round of peer review.

Accept with Revisions

The revised manuscript will be evaluated by the editorial team and, when necessary, returned to the reviewers to ensure that all required corrections and recommendations have been adequately addressed.
