Plagiarism

Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Pendidikan, Sains, Ekonomi dan Teknik (SONONI) will be screened for plagiarism. SONONI maintains a strict policy against plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Any manuscript found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be immediately rejected.

Before being forwarded to reviewers, all submissions undergo an initial similarity check conducted by the editorial team. Manuscripts submitted to SONONI must have a similarity index of less than 25% (excluding references/bibliography), and the similarity score from any single source should not exceed 1%.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using another person's ideas, words, data, or intellectual work without proper acknowledgment, citation, or permission and presenting them as one's own. Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally and can take several forms, including direct copying, substantial copying, and paraphrasing without attribution.

Literal Copying

Literal copying occurs when an author reproduces another author's work word-for-word, either partially or entirely, without permission, acknowledgment, or proper citation.

Substantial Copying

Substantial copying occurs when an author reproduces a significant portion of another person's work without permission, acknowledgment, or citation. This may involve both the quantity and quality of the copied material. The significance of the copied content is evaluated based on its contribution to the original work.

Paraphrasing

Paraphrasing involves rewriting another person's ideas, concepts, or findings using different words while maintaining the original meaning. Failure to properly cite the original source constitutes plagiarism.

Forms of Plagiarism Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  1. Copying terms, words, sentences, data, tables, figures, or information from a source without proper citation.
  2. Using quotations from a source without clearly acknowledging and citing the original source.
  3. Using ideas, opinions, concepts, hypotheses, or theories from another source without proper acknowledgment.
  4. Rewriting or paraphrasing another author's work without providing appropriate references.
  5. Submitting research, manuscripts, or scientific works created wholly or partially by another individual as one's own work.
  6. Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of substantial portions of previously published work without proper citation or disclosure.

Prevention

The Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Pendidikan, Sains, Ekonomi dan Teknik (SONONI) is committed to ensuring that all published articles meet the highest standards of academic integrity. All manuscripts will be screened using Turnitin or other recognized plagiarism detection software prior to the peer-review process.

The editorial office will only process manuscripts that meet the journal's similarity requirements.

Sanctions

In cases where plagiarism is identified before or after publication, the journal reserves the right to impose one or more of the following sanctions:

  1. Reprimand.
  2. Official warning letter to the author(s).
  3. Rejection of the manuscript.
  4. Retraction or withdrawal of the published article.
  5. Cancellation of publication rights.
  6. Notification to the author's affiliated institution if deemed necessary.
  7. Temporary or permanent prohibition from submitting manuscripts to SONONI.
