The integration of science and Islam in higher education is an important approach in responding to the challenges of 21st century education (Aulia, Anwar, & Hadi, 2023). Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in higher education is no longer only oriented towards normative and dogmatic aspects, but is also directed at developing critical, creative, collaborative and contextual thinking skills. The Ethno-STEM approach is presented as an innovative solution by integrating elements of local culture, science, technology, engineering and mathematics into PAI learning (Idrus, 2022). This research uses a literature study method by reviewing various national journals in the last five years related to the integration of science and Islam, Ethno-STEM, and PAI learning in higher education. The results of the study show that the Ethno-STEM approach is able to increase the relevance of PAI learning to students' lives, strengthen religious values, and develop scientific thinking skills based on local culture. This integration also strengthens student character through the internalization of Islamic values that are in line with developments in science and technology. Thus, the implementation of Ethno-STEM based PAI learning in higher education can become an integrative education model that is adaptive to current developments without abandoning Islamic values.
