Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using booklet media on the Indonesian vocabulary ability of third-grade students at SD Negeri Inpres Maccini, Makassar City. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 31 students in class III-A as the experimental group and 28 students in class III-C as the control group. Data were collected using Indonesian vocabulary ability tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, normalized gain, and an independent-samples t-test using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The mean score of the experimental group increased from 60.61 to 78.84, while the control group increased from 56.21 to 69.18. The hypothesis test produced a significance value of 0.003 with t = 3.087 and df = 57. The result indicates a significant difference in vocabulary ability between the two groups after the learning process. The N-Gain was 0.50 in the experimental group and 0.28 in the control group. The study concludes that the use of booklet media had a significant effect on the Indonesian vocabulary ability of the third-grade students involved in this study.
