Analisis Lagu Mupus Layu Karya Ki Aji Setyaji Melalui Pendekatan Ekspresif

Abstract

Literary works such as songs are expressions of the author’s ideas, feelings, and life experiences. The song Mupus Layu is the work of Ki Aji Setyaji, a famous composer from ISI Surakarta, which was created in 2019. This song is the focus of analysis to reveal the outpouring of the author’s heart, which is bound by the dynamics of love and Javanese literature. This study aims to analyze the lyrics of the song to understand the author’s expressions and thoughts through an approach that emphasizes the process of creating a work from the author’s soul, by dissecting the lyrics verse by verse in depth. The results of the analysis show lyrics that tell of the incomparable beauty of the beloved, describe a radiant face that is difficult to forget, tell of the heartbreak when the beloved is with someone else, and describe surrender to the will of the Almighty. Overall, this song reflects a story of unrequited love, in which the creator surrenders to God’s will even though his heart is broken, thus enriching the understanding of emotional expression in Javanese oral literature.
