Analisis Semiotika Makna Perjalanan Hidup Pada Lirik Lagu “Haribaan” Karya Soegi Bornean

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sign structures and the representation of the meaning of life journeys within the lyrics of the song "Haribaan" by Soegi Bornean using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Through a descriptive qualitative method, the research deeply examines the lyric text through three orders of signification: signifiers and signifieds, the mapping of denotative and connotative meanings, and the formation of cultural myths within society. The results indicate that the lyrics of "Haribaan" are laden with metaphors and existential symbols representing complex inner human dynamics. Denotative meanings reveal factual conditions such as being lost and the longing to return home, which then develop connotatively into symbols of self-discovery, ego struggles, and the need for spiritual protection. Furthermore, the myth-level analysis demonstrates how the lyrics naturalize cultural values and worldviews regarding the cyclical human journey from inner turmoil toward tranquility. Consequently, this study affirms that popular musical works can be interpreted as philosophically rich literary texts reflecting the complexity of human emotional and spiritual experiences.
