PLAGIARISM POLICY
Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Terpadu Indonesia (JUMASTRI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. All manuscripts submitted to JUMASTRI are screened for plagiarism before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts identified as containing plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected immediately.
Prior to the review process, every submission undergoes a similarity check conducted by the editorial team using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin. Manuscripts submitted to JUMASTRI must have an overall similarity index of less than 25% (excluding references, bibliography, and quoted materials). In addition, the similarity from any single source should not exceed 5%.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person's ideas, words, data, images, or intellectual work as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment, citation, or permission. Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally and includes a wide range of unethical publication practices.
To determine whether plagiarism has occurred, JUMASTRI considers the following forms:
Literal Copying
Copying text directly from another source, either partially or entirely, without proper quotation marks, citation, acknowledgment, or permission from the original author.
Substantial Copying
Reproducing a substantial portion of another person's work without proper acknowledgment. This may involve copying significant sections of text, data, tables, figures, methods, or conclusions that constitute an important part of the original work.
Paraphrasing Without Attribution
Rewriting ideas, concepts, arguments, or information from another source using different wording while failing to provide appropriate citation and acknowledgment to the original source.
Forms of Plagiarism Include, but Are Not Limited To:
- Copying words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, data, tables, figures, or information from a source without proper citation.
- Using ideas, concepts, opinions, theories, methods, or interpretations from another source without appropriate acknowledgment.
- Paraphrasing material from published or unpublished works without citing the original source.
- Submitting work produced wholly or partially by another person as one's own.
- Reusing substantial portions of one's previously published work (self-plagiarism) without proper disclosure or citation.
- Translating another author's work into a different language and presenting it as original work without acknowledgment.
- Manipulating citations or references to conceal the true source of information.
Prevention
JUMASTRI applies plagiarism prevention measures throughout the editorial process. All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or equivalent plagiarism detection software before peer review.
Authors are encouraged to:
- Properly cite all sources used in their manuscripts.
- Use quotation marks when directly quoting text from other works.
- Provide complete references for all cited materials.
- Ensure that all submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
- Avoid self-plagiarism by appropriately citing their previous publications.
The Editorial Team reserves the right to reject manuscripts that exceed the journal's similarity threshold or show evidence of unethical publication practices.
Sanctions
If plagiarism is identified before publication, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JUMASTRI may take one or more of the following actions:
- Issue a formal warning to the author(s).
- Publish a correction or notice of ethical violation.
