Peran Orang Tua Dalam Pendidikan Anak Menurut Islam

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of parents in children's education from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing the family as the first and primary educational environment in shaping children's character, personality, and religious values. The research employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method based on the Qur'an, Hadith, Islamic education books, scientific journal articles, and relevant previous studies. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis by identifying, classifying, comparing, and interpreting the collected references. The findings reveal that parents play a strategic role as educators, mentors, role models (uswah hasanah), motivators, supervisors, and providers of love and affection throughout the educational process. Islamic family education begins with the cultivation of tawhid (Islamic monotheism), the habituation of religious practices, the development of noble character, and the strengthening of moral values through consistent parental example in daily life. In the digital era, parents are also required to supervise children's use of technology and social media to ensure their development remains aligned with Islamic values. Parental role modeling is identified as the most effective educational method because children naturally learn through observation and imitation of their parents' behavior. Therefore, the success of children's education in Islam is strongly influenced by parents' exemplary conduct, effective communication, affection, and commitment to creating a religious, harmonious, and supportive family environment that fosters children's spiritual, moral, and social development.
