The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has facilitated access to information, but this does not necessarily ensure the ability to evaluate its accuracy and develop knowledge critically. The relationship between knowledge transmission during the reign of Caliph Al-Ma'mun and the use of AI in education requires further examination to connect historical perspectives with contemporary educational challenges. This study examines the role of Bayt al-Hikmah and Al-Ma'mun's policies in knowledge transmission, as well as their relevance to AI use in education. It employs a qualitative library research method with a historical approach. Data were collected through literature documentation and analyzed descriptively and analytically. The findings indicate that knowledge transmission during Al-Ma'mun's reign involved the translation, examination, and development of knowledge by scholars. This intellectual tradition offers insights into AI-assisted education, particularly the importance of information verification, critical thinking, and academic integrity. Therefore, AI should serve as a tool to support learning rather than replace human judgment and the capacity to develop knowledge.
